Private Guided Scuba Dive Tours on the Great Barrier Reef
Imagine exploring the most pristine Great Barrier Reef dive sites with your very own personal scuba guide for the day. While all our scuba dives to the reef are guided, a private guided dive tour takes the experience to the next level, offering a fully personalised and carefully curated adventure. Whether you're an experienced diver looking for a more unique experience beyond a standard tour, newly qualified, or even a first-time diver wanting extra confidence and individual attention, a private guided scuba tour is the ultimate way to explore the Great Barrier Reef and unlock its hidden secrets.
Why Choose Silversonic Cruises for your Great Barrier Reef Private Guided Scuba?
PERSONALISED: It’s a day on Silversonic designed for you. Your private dive guide will assess your diving ability and expectations for the day to curate a dive experience tailored to you and any other members of your dive group.
INTIMATE: Standard certified dive groups can be up to 8 people per dive instructor, whereas private guided dives are tailored specifically for you. If diving with family or friends, you can form your own private group. For introductory divers, you can have up to 4 people in your group. For certified divers, larger groups and additional instructors are available upon request, subject to availability.
SAFETY: Your Private Dive Guide is a PADI-qualified dive instructor and can provide a refresher session if needed and ensure best-practice safety advice and supervision.
FLEXIBILITY: You have the flexibility to choose to dive OR snorkel at each of the sites visited. You also have access to all the standard inclusions on the vessel, including lunch, morning and afternoon teas, premium dive gear and equipment.
DIVE WITH THE EXPERTS: Quicksilver Dive’s knowledgeable dive instructors know the Agincourt ribbon reefs like the back of their hands, with an intimate understanding of the reef system’s topography, marine life and hidden highlights.

What's the difference between guided and private diving?
Every certified dive on Silversonic is guided by a PADI Dive Instructor at no extra cost, that is the standard. A private dive upgrades you to your own dedicated Dive Instructor for the entire day, with no other divers in your group. Your private guide tailors every dive to your skill level, interests and pace.
How many dives can I do in one day with a Private Guided Dive?
Certified divers can complete up to 3 guided dives in a single day on Silversonic at 3 different Agincourt Ribbon Reef sites. Dive sites are selected daily to suit the day's conditions and ecological diversity.
Do I need to be certified to book a private Dive Instructor?
No. Private guided diving is available for both certified divers and introductory (first-time) divers. If you're not certified, your private PADI Dive Instructor will give you a thorough briefing and stay with you for every minute underwater, ideal for nervous first-timers or anyone who wants extra reassurance.
What reef sites will we visit?
Silversonic has access to over 35 remote and exclusive World Heritage dive sites across the pristine Agincourt ribbon reefs, ensuring quality dive experiences.
Is a private dive guide on the Great Barrier Reef worth it?
Yes! A fully tailored dive experience maximises your time underwater to explore the treasures of the Great Barrier Reef. If you're an underwater photographer, a recently certified diver, a nervous first-time diver, or a family/group with mixed experience levels, you'll have the confidence with a dive professional by your side. A private Dive Instructor means longer bottom times tailored to your air consumption, the pace you want, the marine life you most want to see, and one-on-one safety supervision.
Can I swim with dwarf minke whales?
Yes, Silversonic holds very exclusive permits to swim with dwarf minke whales if encountered, on the Great Barrier Reef. The minke season runs roughly June to early August at the Ribbon Reefs. Sightings can't be guaranteed, and there are strict rules around encounter procedures, but being on board Silversonic gives you some of the best chances for an encounter on the GBR.
